1 Peter 5 : 7 NIV
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
As I continue to age and gain life experience, I have noticed a significant shift in the way my mind operates. Specifically, an increasing ability to quell unwanted thoughts has become more prominent. This observation has led me to reflect on the notion that mental tranquility can indeed be cultivated with age.
My thoughts often seemed to run rampant, with various worries, doubts, and anxieties dominating my mind. More often, I am worried about what the future holds.
However, as time went on, I began to develop a greater sense of self-awareness and the ability to exercise my mind not to entertain these things but instead to trust God and let Him be in control of my future. Rather than allowing those anxious thoughts to gain momentum and consume my consciousness, I have learned to redirect my focus towards more positive and productive thinking patterns that are rooted in God’s word and promises. Meditating on God’s Word helped me find peace amidst the anxiety I have in my heart.
As written in 1 Peter 5:7, I constantly reminded myself to cast it all to Him, whatever life may bring, because God cares so much for me.
Before, anxiety was my constant adversary. But this verse becomes a constant reminder of how I can defeat my greatest foe. He doesn’t want your life to be dominated by fear and worry. That is not the way He intended for you to live. Instead, He wants you to give Him everything you are worried about instead of taking it on yourself.
My prayer is that, as soon as anxiousness starts to fill your heart, immediately run to God and cast everything unto Him because God cares deeply for you.
REFLECTION:
Life would not be anxiety-free. We will, at times, be presented with situations that will worry our hearts and magnify our fears. But remember that life can be anxiety-proof because we have a God who is available at all times to listen to all our worries and will work everything for your good. Trust in Him because He cares for you.
PRAYER:
Our Heavenly Father,
Thank you for continuing to lavish us with your love. Every day, we might be faced with situations that will worry and anxious our hearts. May You help us to be still and trust in You completely. May we always have the desire to seek you, to talk all our worries to you, and to find peace in your words and promises.
Amen.
