“Do not fear for I am with you; do not be afraid for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 NLT
When we are lost or helpless, who do we call for rescue? What or whom are we holding on to? God said in this verse, “I will hold on to you with My righteous hand”. But most of the time when we are conquered by pressure, fear of the future, sickness, disappointments, or grief, we tend to hold on to our idols as distractions instead of holding on to God.
When I was at my lowest point of life, I gave in to distractions and isolated myself from others. I even skipped my quiet time and Bible reading. I thought it would help me, but no; it just made things worse. I was weak and helpless. I know now it was God’s way of telling me “My child, you are not meant to be alone in this battle. Stop running away. I will rescue you right where you are. I’ve done it before, I can do it again. I am holding You with My righteous hands.”
Right at that moment, God moved. He impressed on me to contact my DGroup leader. I reached out to her, even though, admittedly, there was something holding me back. Little did I know, it would be my turning point. God used her and the whole DGroup to bring me back to Him. Everything started to fall in the right place — not in an instant, but little by little.
It was God! It was Him all along! He rescued me from the lowest point of my life and brought me to life. He never let go of my hand. Indeed, not for a minute was I forsaken.
Reflections
- God will never forsake us nor ever let us go. He wants us to fully depend on Him and His promises. When we face those trials or uncertainties, believe and trust that God is at work. Surrender your fears, your battles for God has said “It is finished!”. Jesus has already won those battles a thousand years ago at the cross.
- Let God’s voice be louder than your fears and the lies of the enemy. Read the Bible. The most powerful weapon to defeat the lies of the enemy is the truth: God’s word.
- Let God turn our trials into testimonies and use our pain for His purpose. He is moving in our lives! Sooner or later, these trials will prove to be a powerful message and light of hope to other people to encourage and lead them to Christ.
Prayer
Our Heavenly Father, I humbly come before You. Lord, help me to entrust my future and my life, in Your hands. When I’m afraid, let Your love rise above every fear. Remind me, Lord, that You are with me every step of the way, wherever life takes me; that whatever this world throws at me, You will not forsake me and You will never let me go. I’m surrendering my all to You Lord. Use my life for Your greater purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
