Trials
Trials are no fun — if we let our hearts and minds be honest, we might be doing a nod to agree right now. They seem to invite doubts directly through our front door or even make us question the things we firmly believed in. Does God see in which mess I am in right now? Will God still fulfill His promises in my life? Does God truly have a specific plan for me? The answer is yes, God sees you. In fact, He hears you, too. Yes, God will fulfill His promises to you and yes, God has a specific plan for you. Remember that God is unchanging (Hebrews 13:8), God is faithful (1 Corinthians 1:9) and God loves us (1 John 4:9–10). With this, you cannot erase the fact that His faithfulness and love for you is unchanging. We sometimes accuse God of being unfaithful but in fact, it is a matter of responding out of our emotions instead of our commitment. Would you choose to respond with your emotions or with your commitment to following God?
Rock Bottom
The trials we face are part of the path that leads us to His promises. Allow God to use you by letting Him know that you are committed even on bad days. I came across this wonderful reminder on one of my morning reads, it says,
“Sometimes it takes hitting the rock bottom in order for Jesus to show you He is the rock at the bottom. He is the cornerstone. He is the foundation. And when you build your life on Him then nothing can be shaken.”
It is when we are struggling and when things are difficult that our faith in God will be clearly reflected. It is when the only breakthrough we could possibly have is God’s mighty move that our trust and dependability on Him glimmer in our lives.
Pure Joy
James 1:2–4 says we should consider it pure joy whenever we face trials of many kinds. It is when we experience the joy in growing that we learn to appreciate what we’ve been through. Trials are not wasted season. Nothing is wasted if we’re living a life to honor God. Every trial has its own value especially when the Savior is in it.
