I am someone who’s fond of creating plans. Plans like buying myself some expensive art materials, bringing my family abroad for vacations and planning financial stability for the next decades of my life.
Yours can be a whole lot different set like buying a house, planning of career for the next five years or simply planning how to be debt free, but what do we really do when these plans are deferred, out of reach or even shattered? The response to this question will determine whether we are anchored closer on God’s plan for our life or further from it.
“Where am I going to place my hope? Am I going to place my hope in the plans I laid for my life? Or am I going to place my hope in His plan?”
These questions help me a lot to take that shift of perspective when it feels like nothing is working, happening or progressing. It pinches a part of my heart which tends to forget what really matters and what my priority is.
Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the purpose of the Lord will prevail.”
The Canvas
Our imaginative nature opens seas of dreams and multiple plans to achieve them. Sometimes we paint a picture of what we wanted our lives to look like and fail to consider that we should be surrendering the canvas to God. We also sometimes find ourselves painting a canvas not consistent with the ultimate picture that God is painting for us. At some point, we find ourselves frustrated about it but if you do, remember God’s comfort instead — that the purpose of the Lord will prevail.
The Master Artist
How comforting it is that we have a sovereign God who loves us and does not define us of what job title we’ve achieved nor of how much our basic salary has been, a God who finds His way through it all and a God who is ultimately in charge of our life.
If you have goals yet to be achieved or plans to be executed, always hold them out to God with an open hand and trust His plan in your life.
